DR DICK NUWAMANYA KAMUGANGA

PRESIDENT


Dr. Dick holds a Doctorate of Philosophy in Agricultural Development and International Economics from the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies, Geneva Switzerland. He also holds Msc. Agriculture Economics and Bsc. Agriculture Economics from Makerere University Kampala. His passion and determination is to build a winning team at the Federation in the next decade which can transform the Smallholder farmer into a self-sufficient economic entity, capable of running his/her farm enterprise as a profitable business, capable of integrating in the national, regional and international global markets agricultural value chains. He believes that the subsistence proportion about 70 percent of Ugandan farmers can be reduced to a single digit percentage or eliminated in the country. He stresses that the "Transformation Agenda" will aim at ensuring that every household member of Uganda National Farmers Federation be empowered to participate in an occupation of farming that helps them to create household wealth. This also aims at making the smallholder farm households to be vehicles of economic transformation in Uganda and an example for economic transformation in Africa.

JACKSON JURUA

VICE PRESIDENT


Jackson has over 30 years of experience, with a strong background in agriculture through training and practice. He joins the Transformation Agenda that will see Uganda National Farmers Federation transform into a strong and robust farmers federation which can articulate farmers' voices to key stakeholders. He aims at building capacity of member organisations to deliver timely services to their members and create partnerships that can generate knowledge sharing, good governance for sustainable agricultural development in Uganda.

BUTAMANYA JOHNSON

NATIONAL TREASURER


Butamanya is the current National Treasurer for National Executive Committee at UNFFE and also serves as the chairperson of Nakasongola District Farmers Association. A former Resident District Commissioner, a teacher by profession and an experienced practicing farmers for close to 19 years, he owns a farm with both livestock such as cattle and crops like cassava, potatoes among others. Butamanya is proud to be part of the Transformation Agenda 2017 - 2030 that wishes to change the management of UNFFE and farming fraternity through setting up vibrate farmers groups and ensure good governance through two main principles; "Transparency" and "Accountability" He has worked towards building a strong service delivery team in Nakasongola and hopes to replicate this at National level to serve all farmers in Uganda.

MUGOYA AWALI OGONZAKI

SECRETARY GENERAL


Mugoya is current the Secretary General on the National Executive Committee at UNFFE and also serves as the chairperson Bugiri District Farmers Association. He is a profession Development worker with special interest in Rural development. He strongly believes that agriculture is a sure way to transform Uganda into a middle income status through improving the policy environment and increased budget allocation to the agricultural sector. He has worked with farmers for more than 20 years and has put his expertise in transform the farmers in Bugiri District through organized income generating groups.

GRACE MUSIMAMI

PUBLICITY SECRETARY


Grace is the current Publicity Secretary on the National Executive Committee at UNFFE, He is an Environment by training and a senior Communications consultant. His behind the Farmers Media a newspaper that provides information about the farming fraternity to enable timely access to the needed agricultural information. He heads the information and communication at the Federation.

WILSON WAIRINDI

WESTERN REGION REPRESENTATIVE


Wilson is the Western Region Representative on the National Executive Committee at UNFFE and also serves as the chairperson Masindi District Farmers Association. He is a passionate practicing in transforming the smallholder farmers into viable and prosperous commercial farmers with increased incomes and job creation. As chairperson in Masindi, Wilson has speared the agribusiness such as production of quality seed of maize, beans an initiative that has seen farmers access afford and quality seed. He believes that such initiatives can be replicated in all our member District Farmers Associations.

RESTY NAMANJA

SECRETARY FOR WOMEN AFFAIRS


Namayanja is the current Secretary for Women affairs on the National Executive Committee at UNFFE and also serves as the chairperson of Mayuga District Farmers Association. She has great passion to improve the agricultural sector through gender mainstreaming initiatives and get more women and youth interested in agriculture and agribusiness to improve household incomes and fight poverty. She is a practicing with both livestock such as Boar goats from South Africa and crops like soybean, coffee and maize.

SSERUGGA SHEM

CENTRAL REGION REPRESENTATIVE


Shem is the current the Representative of Central region on the National Executive Committee at UNFFE and also serves as the chairperson of Mityana-Mubende District Farmers Association. He is farmer leader who has seen the farmers in Mityana and Mubende change their livelihoods through adaption and adopting to better farming techniques, He believes that agriculture being the backbone of the economy of Uganda, the sector can be improved by advocating for an enabling environment and UNFFE is best placed to engage key stakeholders to join effort and lift the pride of Uganda which is agriculture. Shem is a practicing farmer and consultant in agricultural extension service.

AUGUSTINE MWENDYA

CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER / DIRECTOR AGRIBUSINESS DEVELOPMENT


Mr. Augustine Mwendya is an Agriculturist by profession with over 38 years experience of working in the agricultural sector in general. He worked as head of the UNFFE Secretariat for six years before he was assigned the duties of Director Agribusiness Development in 2004. He has been involved in training farmers in enterprise selection and development, agro-processing as well as linking them to markets. He has also played a significant role in representing the farming fraternity in national, regional and international fora. These include EAC and COMESA at regional level, CAADP at continental level and WTO and international level. In addition to his assignment at UNFFE, Mr. Mwendya chairs the Agricultural Chemicals Control Board under MAAIF..He holds a BSc. Degree (Hons) in Agriculture from Makerere University, Kampala (1974) and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Integrated Rural Development obtained from Pan African Institute for Development, Buea, Cameroon, in 1982, with several Certificates in agricultural-related fields.

KENNETH KATUNGISA

DEPUTY CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER


Mr Kenneth holds a Masters Degree in Business Administration from Uganda Management Institute with 9 nine years of experience in Farmer Organisational Leadership. An environmentalist by profession has helped to speared head innovations in agriculture to tackle the advance effects of climate change through training farmers on mitigation, adoption and adaption mechanisms. He has also coordinated the implementation of several Projects along different value chains such as Cassava, Coffee, among others. Kenneth has a passion of changing the agricultural sector through institution capacity building and empowering farmers by creating an enabling environment for sustainability and engage duty bearers through lobby and advocacy and create synergies and networks to improve policy processes with different stakeholders in the agricultural sector.

CALEB GUMISIRIZA

DIRECTOR POLICY RESEARCH AND ADVOCACY


Mr. Caleb Gumisiriza heads the policy research and advocacy department at UNFFE. He is a member of various committees like the agri-profocus advocacy thematic group, Ugandan team on the EPA negotiations and the chairperson of the UNADA National Advisory Council. He has spearheaded advocacy campaigns on developing agricultural finance strategy and development of district ordinaces in 7 districts. Caleb holds a Masters Degree in Management of development from Van Hall Larenstein University with a Bachelors Degree in Social Studies from Makerere University.

ACIO DORAH RWEGO

DIRECTOR FINANCE AND ADMINISTRATION


Ms. Dorah provides leadership in the development of continous evaluation of short and long term financial objectives of the organisation. She directs and oversees all aspects of the finance and accounting function of the organisation.

VINCENT NTEGE

MANAGER MONITORING AND EVALUATION


Mr. Vincent Ntege is an Economist and Environmentalist by training and a retired civil servant with experience spanning over 26 years in government planning work. In the ministry of Gender, Labour and Planning he worked as the Head of the Planning Unit. Later he joined UNFFE in 2004 as a mainstream officer for the Global Fund HIV/AIDs project and currently he is the manager Monitoring and Evaluation. Responsible for designing tools for collection of data, analysis and producing reports for projects. He is also project manager for the Financial services projects funded by We Effect, and the projects under this are SAAFSERFU, FSEYU, and previously FSPFCU. The focus of the three projects is to train rural farmers how to save and borrow money for enterprise development using a method known as Village Savings and Loans Association (VSLA) with over 240,000 farmers being beneficiaries.

PETER KISAMBIRA

PROGRAMS MANAGER


Peter trained as an Agricultural Economist at graduate and postgraduate levels with one year's experience working with farmers. He organises small holder farmers and UNFFE members and integrates them into various agricultural value chains. He is in charge of organising and managing the National Agricultural Trade Show as well as co-ordinating the agro-forestry program. He also co-ordinates UNFFE-NAADS activities.

PEREZ KAWUMI

TRAINING AND AGRICULTURAL ADVISORY MANAGER


Perez holds a MS in Management, concentrating on project management obtained from Walden University – USA, BS in Agriculture from Uganda Martyrs University Nkozi and a National Diploma in Agriculture from Bukalasa Agricultural College. Am an expert and talented extensionist and farmers’ trainer with over 20 years of working experience in the field of agricultural extension; I have worked as the training and agricultural advisory services manager at UNFFE where I implemented the anti-counterfeit agricultural inputs campaign project, over 30 districts have so far been covered and grass root training teams established. Career Objective: To be a great leader who seeks growth- growth in performance, growth in distinctive impact, growth in creativity, growth in people- but not succumbing to growth that undermines the long term value.

AANYU AMINAH OCHOM

ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICER


Aminah holds an MBA, PGD in Management and BSc in Business Administration. She worked previously in various organisations including Projects under the Office of the Prime Minister, handling administration, logistics, accounting, procurement and human resource. She is in charge of the general office administration, records management, human resource and logistics at UNFFE. She enjoys working in a cross-cultural environment like UNFFE and many others in which team building is vital and sharing of experience and responsibilities.

OTEBBA OKODOI CEPHAS

COMPLIANCE OFFICER


Cephas offers guidance on the schedule of program implementation, spearheads collection of data through established M&E tools, analyses the data collected and its dissemination to facilitate decision making and learning at UNFFE. He has worked at a District Farmers Association for 6 years and has 7 years experience of farmers capacity building, agricultural policy analysis and advocacy. He coordinated the implementation of the USAID/UNFFE project to enhance capacity of farmers to effectively influence policies for agriculture development, climate change adaptations and youth and women engagement in agricultural entrepreneurship.

JEMIMAH NANYONGA

COMPLIANCE OFFICER


She holds a degree in Commerce (Accounting) and is currently pursuing ACCA. She monitors the implementation of USAID project activities and evaluates their impact and outcomes to the beneficiaries in relation to the set objectives of the project.

NELSON TUKUNDANE

COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER


Coming from a development training course at University, Nelson has generated more interest in improving the livelihood of his community through feasible and realistic development interventions which need a great component of monitoring and evaluation. He has over time with USAID and UNFFE carried out project implementation and co-ordination such as Support For Farmer Organisation to Africa (SFOAP), Financial Services For Youths in Uganda (FSFYU). He carries out research and has been involved in planning at the Federation.

HARON OMARA

ICT ASSISTANT


Omara holds a Bachelor of Computer Engineering Degree from Makerere University. He is in charge of maintenance and servicing of computers at UNFFE. He troubleshoots all computer related problems and ensures the smooth running of the ICT function of the organisation.

AYEBARE PRUDENCE AIJUKA

POLICY RESEARCH ASSISTANT


I support the Policy Research, Lobby and advocacy Department in gathering, analyzing and disseminating information on advocacy issues to inform research, policy or media work. I provide input on research activities, proposal development processes and Organizing multi stakeholder meetings, workshop, exchange visits and make correspondences with facilitators, press and invitees. I support the process to form networks with various stakeholders such as development partners, NGOs, private sector, research organizations and academic institutions to mobilize their support on policy issues and actively participate and represent the organization in various networks and movements to share the organizations position on various issues.

REBECCA NAKKAZI

RECEPTIONIST/SECRETARY


Rebecca is a warm and caring person which makes her best suited for her role at UNFFE where she receives visitors and guests into UNFFE. She receives phone calls as well and performs other secretarial tasks as well.

REBECCA NAMATOVU

LIBRARIAN ASSISTANT


She holds a Bachelors Degree in Library and Information Science from Makerere University.She manages the planning, administrative and budgetary functions of the Federation's Resource Centre and has worked towards building a well stocked library. Her interest in providing information for research gives her confidence that the farming fraternity will change with the necessary required information availed.

LAWRENCE OKELLO

DRIVER


Lawrence Okello holds an Advance certificate in Motor Vehicle Technology, He started working with Ngetta Mission Procurement Workshop in lira for 3 years in their workshop as a mechanic later he joined driving school and worked with Apac medical Center and currently he is proud to serve the farmers in Uganda National Farmers Federation as a driver.

WINFRED AKUGIZIBWE

WELFARE OFFICER


Winfred is an experienced officer who has been part of the federation team for more than five years, her passion and motivation is to have a healthy team of staff to serve the farmers. She is also in charge of Nakasero Village Saving and Loans Association, an initative to help staff access affordable financial services.

WILSON MUSIHO

SECURITY GUARD


Wilson has been serving the farmers at the Federation for more than 10 years ensuring the safety and security of the premises, he is also managing the demonstration plots at head office. He believes agriculture is a key driver to fighting poverty among Ugandans

IBRAHIM SSERUNKUMA

DRIVER


Ibrahim is an experienced and professional driver for close to 20 years. He has helped the Federation in implementing different projects and programmes since he joined in 2003. He is also a practicing farmers in Mukono where he established a farm that has both livestock and crop. He believes that agriculture development can transform Uganda into a wealthy nations.

DRIVER


Robert is a dedicated professional driver who has been on the Federation team for more than 10 years. He has offered his undivided efforts to have successful implementation of most projects and loves agriculture.

IRENE ALIKOBA

SENIOR ASSISTANT ACCOUNTANT


Irene holds a Diploma in Business Studies (UDBS) and is currently pursuing ACCA. Irene has ten years experience as an accountant at UNFFE. Aside from putting UNFFE books of accounts in order, Irene enjoys farming.

NOELINA NAMAJJA

ASSISTANT ACCOUNTANT


Noelina is a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Finance degree holder from Kyambogo University. She is currently pursuing ACCA. She consolidates workplans and budgets of different departments in the organisation as well as preparing and presenting monthly project fincancial reports.

WINNIFRED PAMELA APONI

VOLUNTEER UNDER THE MONITORING AND EVALUATION DEPARTMENT


Winnifred holds Post Graduate Diploma in Monitoring and Evaluation and a Bachelors Degree in Social Work and Social Administration. She has passion about farming with special interest in the girl child and women participation in decision making at household level. She has been volunteering under the Monitoring and Evaluation department organizing field work and recently worked on the Farmer's Voice project which is centered at providing Agricultural Information about UNFFE projects.

NASSOLO BETTY

VOLUNTEER UNDER FINANCE AND ADMINISTRATION DEPARTMENT


Betty holds a bachelors degree in Accounting and Finance. She is a highly motivated and innovative Accountant with skills and knowledge essential for managing key areas of an organisation, hard working and flexible person. She has knowledge on accounting software like tally and quick backs.

CHRISTINE NAKATO

VOLUNTEER UNDER THE POLICY RESEARCH AND ADVOCACY DEPARTMENT


Christine holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Project Planning and Management of Uganda Management Institute, Kampala and Bachelor’s Degree in Adult and Community Education of Kyambogo University Kampala. Christine has a wide range of experience in programmes/projects implementation and administration having worked with Uganda National Farmers Federation (UNFFE) supporting the Lobby, Advocacy and Research pillar (April 2016 to date) and Participatory Ecological Land Use Management (PELUM) Uganda as a Programme Assistant (July 2014 to July 2015) and Administrator (November 2009 to June 2014). Christine also undertakes a number of private consultancies for Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) in the area of documentation and report writing where she has submitted timely and comprehensive reports to contracting agencies on a number of engagements whenever hired.
